The Indian women's hockey team faced a significant setback when they did not qualify for the 2024 Olympics in Paris earlier this year. However, they are now focused on making a strong comeback at the upcoming Asian Champions Trophy scheduled to be held in Rajgir, Bihar, this November. Goalkeeper and senior member Savita emphasized the team's resilience, stating that failure is a great teacher in sports. She expressed gratitude for the fans' unwavering support and encouraged them to continue backing the team. Forward player Navneet Kaur mentioned that the Bollywood movie "Chak De India" played a vital role in boosting women's hockey in the country, and the team often draws inspiration from its songs before matches. Reflecting on the team's progress during their training in Bengaluru, Navneet shared that qualifying for the 2016 Olympics was a pivotal moment for women's hockey in India, leading to subsequent successes in the Commonwealth Games and Asian Cup. She highlighted the increasing support from stakeholders and fans and expressed the team's determination to enhance their performance for future generations. Navneet stressed the rigorous training regimen the team follows, with intense sessions held six days a week to improve speed and endurance. Lastly, she acknowledged past apprehensions about facing the Netherlands team but emphasized the team's current focus on training with the same level of intensity as during matches.Previously, we used to be cautious about facing a certain team, but now we are not afraid of anyone. When asked if there was a particular nation the women's team wanted to compete against, Savita disclosed, "The Netherlands is currently recognized as the top team globally, so we are eagerly looking forward to playing against them. There was a time when we would have hesitated to meet them, preferring to avoid a match, but over time and with experience, we have become confident enough to take on the challenge and embrace the game."
